About Me

I started my career as a strategy consultant with Monitor Company. After working for Diageo and then a boutique strategy house, I pivoted into the non-profit sector, co-chairing a disabled children's charity that worked in partnership with local government.
In 2022 I gained a Masters in Sustainable Development from University of Sussex*, graduating in the top 5%.
My most recent role was at an innovative climate and nature charity which spanned non-profit, finance and academia.
As a sustainable strategy consultant I bring together a deep understanding of sustainability with a wide experience of the private, public and non-profit sectors to help organisations be optimistic about their, and the planet's, future.

Recent work

Problem:
An environmental charity was struggling to get partners in the financial advice sector to raise sustainability with clients.
Solution:
Approaching the problem from the advisers' perspective, I started with their priorities: profitability, client retention and career development. Identifying the synergies between the charity and the advisers, I developed a training programme. The programme introduced the climate and nature crises in an accessible way, and evidenced enhanced profitability and client retention from discussing philanthropy with clients.
To gain credibility and industry access, I built relationships with the major industry associations, who endorsed the training programme, meaning that trainees earned essential CPD* credits.
Result:
The charity's fundraising doubled that year. Due to the collaborative relationships built with industry associations, the charity's visibility in the industry increased.

Every little counts!

Unsurprisingly I take steps to maximise my sustainability:I pledge to give 10% of annual profit* to charities (split between an environmental and a social charity).People:
- I pay suppliers fairly and promptly
- I work with clients who genuinely want to improve their sustainability, not just their image
- My fees are competitive
Planet:
- Where possible I choose suppliers with environmental / social credentials. Currently these include (Octopus for electricity; .eco for domain; CookieWolf for digital services; Triodos for banking and Ecotalk for phone service)
- My method of travel to meetings is walking / cycling and train. If public transport is not possible I travel by electric vehicle.

*As a sole trader, profit is calculated pre-salary. If I change my business model so that profit is calculated post-salary, this figure will increase.
